The Town Hall of Xanthi

At the Old Town , the Town Hall is situated, a mansion of Xanthian tobacco merchant.

Urban lord residence of eclectistic architecture, built around 1880 by Moses the tobacco merchant. Local sandstone from Mandra quarries was used as well as granite from Rodopi. Of great admiration is the double escalation. It has rich internal decoration from iron rods and plaster ornaments, which until today we are not certain about its exact material, as well as the carved roofs. Today, it is preserved with different technical interventions, so that its architecture won’t alter since it has excellent functionality for the people who need the services.
